Not all of the Indian food provided by Trader Joe’s is actually safe to eat, but some Indian food in their frozen entrees caught our attention. We are downright excited to try their Chicken Tikka Masala dish. According to Trader Joe’s official website, this recipe has been available on their menu since 2009. And it’s a favorite among Trader Joe’s employees. So it’s time for us to do a review and finally enjoy for ourselves.
One of my complaints about the butter chicken with basmati rice is really taking a long time to cook. This recipe takes about 9 minutes in the microwave. Luckily, trader joe’s chicken tikka masala doesn’t take as long to cook as rice. After only 3 minutes in the microwave, gently stir it and return it to the microwave for another 60-90 seconds. And it’s all done!
On the table, you can see that the chicken and the rice are separated by just a partition. The rice is like a splash in the sauce, and the sauce is like a splash in the rice, so maybe it’s not a really perfect separation, but this meal tastes better when you mix everything together, yeah so the separation doesn’t really matter.
It can be observed that the chicken is a little dry, but it is good to dip it in the sauce.
A can of Trader Joe’s Chicken Tikka Masala has about 360 calories (130 of which are from fat), which isn’t too bad for your health. Granted, it’s not perfectly healthy, but it won’t break the diet of calorie counters. The sodium level is also at a good level at 580 mg.
Trader Joe’s Chicken Tikka Masala is a delicious dish to savor carefully. Of course, it’s not as good as their Korma Fish Curry dish. Very few Indian frozen meals can taste this and symbolically achieve this perfection.
