Internet TV Streaming Services and MSNBC
It used to be that the only way to see cable news was to subscribe to the service. This, however, is no longer the case. More individuals are cutting the cord on cable television than ever before as able bills continue to rise.
This means that networks like MSNBC must adapt in order to stay profitable. As a result, “thin bundle” internet TV streaming services have become more popular.
“Skinny bundles” are an online TV service that provides a tailored selection of cable and network channels via the internet with no cable membership. PlayStation Vue and the newly released YouTube TV platform are two examples.
Although each service’s price varies, most fall between $20 and $50, with some possibilities closer to $80 if they include additional channels. This is usually a lot less than cable.
Except for Philo, every major internet TV service provides MSNBC. You can also use your internet TV credentials to log into the MSNBC website to watch the live news coverage, exactly like you would with a cable subscription if you subscribe to one of these services.
On your Amazon Fire TV, you have a few options for watching MSNBC live.
FuboTV’s initial focus was on sports streaming services, but we now have a variety of options to pick from, some of which are not related to sports.
Channels and plans
There are two subscription tiers available on FuboTV. Fubo is the most basic tier, costing $45 per month, whereas Fubo Premier costs $50 per month and includes a few extra channels. Fubo Latino or Fubo Portugués may appeal to Spanish or Portuguese speakers, however, these bundles do not offer MSNBC.
MSNBC, as well as Fox News, CNBC and CNBC World, and Fox Business, are all included in the standard Fubo membership.
The majority of the other channels, including beIN SPORTS, The Olympic Channel, and Univision, are dedicated to sports coverage, primarily of association football (soccer), rugby, and other globally popular sports.
Features of FuboTV
The free cloud-based DVR that comes with FuboTV allows you to record up to 30 hours of material, which is limited when compared to other internet TV services. For a $10 monthly subscription, you can upgrade to 500 hours of storage space.
You may also only stream on two devices that tie FuboTV to DirecTV Now and Hulu With Live TV. FuboTV has lately added a “Family Share” add-on. You can stream on an additional device for an additional $6 per month, for three simultaneous streams.
To watch MSNBC on your Amazon Fire TV, go to the Amazon App Store and download FuboTV. You can either use your Android or iOS device, a web browser, or a streaming platform like Roku or Chromecast to watch.
Now available on DirecTV
DirecTV Now is a joint venture between DirecTV and AT&T that offers a fantastic range of cable channels but falls short on features, despite adding a cloud DVR for all customers in late 2018.
Channels and plans
On DirecTV Now, you have the option of selecting one of four channel packages:
- Live A Little – $45/month, 65+ channels
- Just Right – $55/month, 85+ channels
- Go big with 105+ channels for $65 per month.
- Gotta Have It – $75/month, 125+ channels
For cable news fans, DirecTV Now has a wonderful range of channels. MSNBC and CNBC, as well as HLN, CNN, Fox News, Fox Business, and other channels, are included in the $40/month “Live A Little” package.
If you pay $55 a month for the “Just Right” bundle, which includes CNBC World and ESPNews, you’ll get even more news coverage.
Some capabilities that most other internet streaming providers have are now unavailable on DirecTV Now. For example, although it now comes with a free cloud DVR, you only get 20 hours of storage and will have to pay an extra monthly cost for more.
DirecTV Now also only allows you to stream on two devices at the same time. You’ll need to purchase a DirecTV Now add-on package if you want more streams.
DirecTV Now is available for download from the Amazon App Store and may be seen on any Amazon Fire TV device. You may also watch on your Android or iOS device, as well as in your web browser. Roku, Apple TV, and Chromecast are among the other streaming systems that are supported.
On its website, DirecTV Now provides a free seven-day trial.
With Live TV on Hulu
Hulu With Live TV is a newcomer to the world of internet TV, but it’s swiftly establishing itself as a top alternative for cord-cutters — although it’s still in beta as of late 2018.
Channels and plans
Hulu Live TV, like FuboTV, only offers one subscription package. It costs $40 a month and offers between 40 and 70 channels, depending on your location.
MSNBC, as well as HLN, Telemundo, CNN, Fox News, and CNBC, are among the channels available, making it a terrific pick for cable news aficionados. There’s also a good selection of sports and cable entertainment channels, so you’ll have lots of choices.
One advantage of the Hulu With Live TV subscription is that it offers a free Hulu membership ($8/month value). You can watch all of Hulu’s content on-demand and with no limitations. However, you’ll have to pay an additional price to watch on-demand programming without commercials. It still showed commercials on all live television shows, of course.
With your Hulu With Live TV subscription, you’ll get a complimentary 50-hour DVR. If that’s not enough, you may pay $15 per month for the “Enhanced DVR” add-on, which increases storage to 200 hours.
You’re limited to only two simultaneous streams by default, the same as DirecTV Now and FuboTV. You do, however, have the option to upgrade, unlike these other services.
The “Unlimited Screens” subscription costs $15 per month. On your home network, you can stream to as many devices as you wish, and on an outside network, you can stream to up to three devices. If you like, you can get Enhanced DVR and Unlimited Screens for $20 a month.
You may watch Hulu With Live TV on your Fire TV by downloading the app from the Amazon App Store. iOS and Android devices, as well as popular streaming platforms like Apple TV and Chromecast, are all supported.
